Updates Galore
I'm long overdue for an update, so let me try and make up for it here...
- As many close to me know, I have never been satisfied with the level of service my local mega-telco, Telus has provided. Last year, Telus shrunk their workforce by about 42% (11,000 out of 28,000 employees). They claimed that their customer service would not be affected; however, the exact opposite has actually happened. Even dialing "0" for an operator results in the line ringing and ringing for what seems like eternity before someone actually answers. At any rate, now that they are not the only provider for local service, I have initiated the switch to Sprint Canada. Who knows if they'll be any better, but I find it hard to believe they could be worse.
- Apple Computer announced Tuesday my new computer: the 12 inch PowerBook, the smallest portable Apple has ever shipped. Along with this, I will need an iPod, and the new Griffin iTrip, an FM transmitter for the iPod. With the iTrip, I will be able to listen to music on my iPod in my car and on my home stereo.
- My default browser is now Apple's Safari browser which is based on the opensource engine behind Konqueror. It is very fast, though it is a beta1 product. Overall, it seems to be the most promising browser I've ever seen for the Mac.
- We've been having a lot of sunny weather lately -- these two cute neighbours seem to be enjoying it...
