The Majestic Elephants

I was recently made aware of a situation in Africa whereby five countries in southern Africa are pushing hard to restart the trade of ivory. Apparently, since the ban of ivory trading in 1989, elephant populations are returning to safe levels... The lobby group is saying that most of the ivory they wish to sell were obtained from elephants who had died of natural causes.

Sometimes I have great difficulty understanding how some people think. I don't have a problem with people making use of the remains from animals who have died of natural causes, I simply do not believe that poachers would have such self-control to limit themselves in such a way.

Elephants are such majestic beings. So intelligent and wise. They are the whales of the land. I sure wish people would show the respect to elephants that they clearly deserve.
